1. Total Licensed Sponsors

  • By the end of September 2024, the UK had 108,293 registered organisations and institutions as licensed sponsors for work and study purposes.

2. Quarterly Activity (July–September 2024)

  • 8,299 applications for sponsor licenses were processed, marking a 24% decline from the same period in 2023 (10,891).
  • Of these applications, 5,054 licenses were successfully granted, while 3,245 applications were either withdrawn or rejected.

3. Annual Trends (Year Ending September 2024)

  • The Home Office made 47,897 decisions on sponsor license applications, a significant rise from 36,804 decisions in the year ending September 2023.
  • Out of these decisions, 34,765 licenses were granted, reflecting a 22% increase compared to the previous year.
  • 13,132 applications were not granted, which includes both withdrawn and rejected cases.

In Q3 of 2024, the proportion improved to 57.6%, up from 57.0% in Q3 of 2023.
