Additional Certificates of Sponsorship Granted for Our Client

Our client, an existing sponsor licence holder, needed additional Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) to continue recruiting skilled migrant workers. We helped them prepare and submit their application, and the Home Office has now approved the additional allocation.

We are pleased to share another successful outcome for a client of NARA Solicitors.

Our client already held a valid sponsor licence but had used, or was close to using, its existing CoS allocation. As the business continued to recruit skilled workers, it needed additional Certificates of Sponsorship to support its recruitment plans.

We assisted the client with the application for an additional CoS, and we are pleased to confirm that the Home Office granted the additional CoS requested.

Having a sponsor licence does not automatically give a business an unlimited number of Certificates of Sponsorship.

Sponsors are normally given an allocation based on their circumstances and recruitment requirements. As a business grows, its recruitment needs can change, and it may need more CoS than originally allocated.

When this happens, the sponsor can apply to the Home Office for additional Certificates of Sponsorship.

However, an additional CoS request should not be treated as a simple administrative exercise. The Home Office may consider the sponsor’s compliance history, the roles they are seeking to fill, their recruitment needs and the evidence provided in support of the request.

A poorly prepared application or insufficient supporting evidence can result in delays or refusal, potentially affecting a business’s recruitment plans.

Our team first reviewed the client’s existing sponsor licence, CoS allocation and recruitment requirements.

We then prepared the application for additional CoS, ensuring that the request was properly explained and supported by relevant evidence.

As part of our work, we also reviewed the client’s sponsor compliance position before submitting the application. This helped us identify and address any potential issues that could affect the application.

We made sure the application clearly explained why the additional CoS were required and how they related to the client’s genuine recruitment needs.

The Outcome

We are pleased to confirm that the Home Office approved the client’s request for additional Certificates of Sponsorship.

The additional allocation means the client can continue with its plans to recruit skilled migrant workers and support the ongoing growth of its business.

This case is a good reminder that obtaining a sponsor licence is only the beginning. Sponsors also need to manage their licence carefully, keep track of their CoS allocation and plan ahead when additional sponsorship capacity is required.
