Skilled Worker Sponsor Licence

We help UK businesses secure the Skilled Worker Sponsor Licence to hire skilled migrant workers. Our expert legal team ensures your application is accurate, efficient, and fully aligned with Home Office requirements.

What is Skilled worker Sponsor Licence

A Skilled Worker Sponsor Licence is permission from the Home Office that allows UK employers to hire skilled migrant workers. This applies to all types of employers—whether you’re a small business, a large company, a charity, or a public sector organisation.

These certificates allow the worker to apply for the Skilled Worker Visa.

To obtain a sponsor licence, employers must demonstrate that they are genuine businesses operating lawfully in the UK, have appropriate HR systems in place to manage sponsorship duties, and meet specific eligibility criteria. Once granted, the licence permits the employer to sponsor foreign workers for roles that meet certain skill and salary thresholds.

As of April 2024, the requirement to renew the sponsor licence every four years has been removed. Licences expiring on or after 6 April 2024 will be automatically extended for an additional 10 years.

Services we offer

Sponsor Licence Applications

We assist UK businesses in preparing and submitting Skilled Worker Sponsor Licence applications to the Home Office. From gathering the required documents to ensuring your business meets all eligibility and compliance requirements, our team offers complete guidance.

Whether you’re applying for the first time or reapplying after a previous refusal, we handle the process with accuracy and care.

If your sponsor licence application has been refused and there is no right of appeal or administrative review, a judicial review may be the only legal remedy. Our solicitors can assess the refusal, prepare a robust Pre-Action Protocol letter, and pursue judicial review proceedings if necessary.

We aim to challenge Home Office decisions efficiently and lawfully.

Compliance is key to keeping your licence. We conduct internal Home Office-style audits to identify and address any weaknesses in your current systems before an actual inspection.

Our audit service ensures your HR and record-keeping practices meet sponsorship duties, helping you avoid enforcement action.

If the Home Office has notified to revoke your sponsor licence, we act fast to challenge this. There is no formal right of appeal against revocation, but we can file a Pre-Action Protocol letter and, where needed, proceed to judicial review.

Our legal team has experience dealing with urgent licence revocation matters and safeguarding businesses from severe operational disruption.

A suspension notice can put your recruitment plans on hold and impact your business. We provide legal representation during the suspension process, engage directly with the Home Office, and help prepare a response backed by evidence and legal argument.

Our goal is to reinstate your licence and protect your business continuity.

We support employers in applying for and assigning Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) to skilled migrant workers.

Whether you’re assigning your first CoS or managing multiple applications, we ensure that all role requirements, salary levels, and visa conditions are properly met.

Our solicitors also advise on compliance obligations linked to CoS issuance.
