We are proud to share another recent success story for one on of our clients.

Our client's sponsor licence faced challenges from the Home Office on two occasions over several months. We supported them through both, and they have retained their licence without any adverse outcome.

Background

Our client's sponsor licence had previously been suspended on 13th November 2025, following a Home Office visit on 18th July 2025.

The client approached us and we submitted a response on 27th November 2025, and the licence was reinstated on 9th January 2026. Shortly after reinstatement, the Home Office contacted our client again with further requests for information as part of a compliance check.

On 3rd February 2026, our client received an email from the Home Office requesting further information. We submitted a response on 17th February 2026, providing bank statements, payslips for sponsored staff, employment contracts, a payroll summary for all sponsored employees, and a payroll monthly audit checklist the client had recently implemented following the reinstatement of their sponsor licence.

On 24th February 2026, a follow-up email arrived. The Home Office noted that for some sponsored workers, the net payments shown on payslips did not match the net salary payments visible in the business bank statements. They asked for an explanation and any corroborating evidence.

This is a concern that carries real weight. If a sponsor cannot demonstrate that workers are being paid in line with their Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) salary, the licence is at risk.

On our client's instruction, we drafted and submitted a response on 27th February 2026. We set out clearly that the sponsored workers had not been paid less than their annual CoS salary.

We also sought disclosure from the Home Office on which specific employees had been identified as receiving payments below their CoS salary, so the concern could be addressed precisely.

A difference between net figures on a payslip and a payment shown in a bank statement does not automatically mean underpayment. What matters is whether each worker was paid in line with their CoS salary, and our client was able to demonstrate exactly that.

The Outcome

Our client has now received confirmation from the Home Office that no further action is required. The licence has been retained throughout, and our client can continue to sponsor skilled migrant workers without interruption.

Sponsor licence compliance does not stop once a licence is granted or reinstated. The Home Office can follow up with further requests, and payroll records are a common area of focus.
