What is the Global Business Mobility Visa?

The Global Business Mobility (GBM) Visa is a collection of five sponsored work routes introduced by the UK Home Office to facilitate temporary business-related assignments in the UK. Launched in April 2022, these routes cater to various business needs, allowing overseas companies to:

• Transfer senior or specialist employees to UK branches.

• Send graduate trainees for structured training programs.

• Establish a new UK entity through key personnel.

• Provide services under international trade agreements.

• Second employees as part of high-value contracts or investments.

Each route has specific eligibility criteria, sponsorship requirements, and conditions regarding duration of stay and permissible activities.

The Five GBM Visa Routes

1. Senior or Specialist Worker: For experienced employees being transferred to a UK branch to undertake a specific role.

2. Graduate Trainee: Designed for recent graduates participating in a structured training program leading to a managerial or specialist position.

3. UK Expansion Worker: For senior personnel tasked with establishing a UK presence for an overseas business not yet trading in the UK.

4. Service Supplier: Applicable to contractual service suppliers or self-employed professionals providing services in the UK under a covered trade agreement.

5. Secondment Worker: For employees seconded to the UK as part of a high-value contract or investment by their overseas employer.
