Further Leave to Remain is the process of applying to extend your existing permission to stay in the UK when your current visa is coming to an end. Most work visas, student visas, and family visas can be extended provided you continue to meet the requirements of the relevant route. It is important to apply before your current leave expires and to continue to meet all conditions of your existing visa in the meantime.
The requirements for an extension depend on the route. For work routes such as the Skilled Worker Visa, you will generally need a valid Certificate of Sponsorship, continued employment in an eligible role, and a salary that meets the current threshold. For family routes, you will need to continue to meet the relationship and financial requirements. English language evidence is generally required at the extension stage, and the Immigration Health Surcharge must be paid for the new period of leave.
NARA Solicitors advises clients across a range of visa categories on extensions. We review your circumstances, ensure the supporting documentation is in order, and prepare your application to minimise the risk of refusal. If your circumstances have changed since your original visa was granted, such as a change of employer, salary, or family situation, we can advise on how to address this in your extension application.
